The eponymous S R Springs and its outlet, S R Cr, anchor this landscape of the High Plains in Sheridan County. The terrain is defined by a complex network of seasonal drainages and draws that carve through the open range, including the extensive Mile Long Draw and the family-named Upton Gulch. These watercourses, such as Middle Fork Badger Cr and Jim Crow Cr, historically dictated the movement of livestock and the placement of early ranching infrastructure in this part of northern Wyoming.
