1964 Map of Salisbury Potrero

USGS Topo · Published 1989

About this map

Salisbury Potrero and a series of high-altitude grasslands known as potreros define this segment of the Sierra Madre Mountains during the mid-1960s. These natural clearings, including Montgomery Potrero and Logan Potrero, suggest a history of seasonal grazing and water management in a landscape otherwise dominated by deep canyons like Salisbury Canyon and Newsome Canyon. Numerous springs are recorded across the slopes, from La Jolla Spring in the north to Lower Sand Spring near the southern wilderness boundary.
