The Knife River winds through the southwestern corner of this West River landscape, where the prairie is defined by a systematic grid of section-line roads and drainage coulees. Schaffner Cr meanders across the eastern half of the quadrangle, carving into the upland as it flows toward the Dunn County and Mercer County boundary. The area remains sparsely populated and largely dedicated to ranching and agriculture, as evidenced by the dominance of rural routes like 80th Ave SW and 14th St SW.
