School Grove Lake and Timm Lake define the prairie landscape of this western Minnesota borderland, where the boundaries of Yellow Medicine, Lyon, and Redwood counties converge. The terrain is a complex hydrologic network of natural water bodies and extensive drainage engineering, evidenced by the presence of Judicial Ditch Number Three and County Ditch Number Ninety-two. The seasonal nature of the region's hydrology is visible in the designated Twin Lake Bed and Goose Lake Bed, which contrast with the steady flow of the Redwood River in the southern portion of the quadrangle. A rigorous grid of township and range lines, such as t113n r39w and t112n r40w, organizes the agricultural land, connected by a dense system of local roads including Co Hwy 26 and Co Rd 46.
