Umtanum Ridge and Yakima Ridge Canyon dominate this part of the Washington interior, where the high desert terrain transitions from the steep slopes of Burbank Valley into the dissected uplands of Yakima County. This modern survey shows a landscape defined by significant elevation changes and the hydrology of Selah Springs, which feeds Selah Cr as it carves through the ridges. While much of the northern territory remains open range along the Kittitas Co Yakima Co line, the southern portion of the quadrangle reveals modern residential development. Local transit is rooted in family-named corridors and winding hillside lanes such as Mieras Rd, Bohoskey Dr, and Horse Haven Rd, which trace the contours of the rising terrain south of the ridge systems.
