The dramatic coastline of the Kenai Peninsula is the central focus of this coastal study, where the waters of McCarty Fiord and North Arm Nuka Bay meet steep, glaciated terrain. Much of the land is preserved within Kenai Fjords National Park and the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge, highlighting a landscape largely untouched by permanent settlement. Significant maritime landmarks such as Pilot Harbor, Surprise Bay, and Quartz Bay provide deep-water access points along the jagged shore.
