Singer Lake and its associated Singer Lake Draw anchor the southern reach of this landscape in the high plains of Chaves County. The terrain is defined by a complex network of ephemeral drainage patterns and named canyons, including Big Ox Yoke Canyon and Little Ox Yoke Canyon in the northeast, which feed toward the Rio Felix. These intermittent watercourses indicate a ranching environment where water management and topography dictated movement and land use.
