Porter Bench and the surrounding high plains of Teton County define this section of north-central Montana. The landscape is deeply incised by a series of drainages, most notably the S Fork Dry Fork Marias River which winds through the northern half of the quadrangle. These watercourses, including Soap Cr and N Fork Muddy Cr, create distinct topographical depressions such as Farmers Coulee and Jensen Coulee.
