Deer Creek Canyon and Mitchell Creek Canyon define the deeply eroded topography of this Frontier County landscape. The region's water management is documented through several man-made impoundments, including the Frontier County Road Reservoir Number 1 in the north and Hinton Reservoir Number 1 near the center. These features, alongside the Davis Reservoir, illustrate the necessity of water storage for agricultural and rural stability in the Great Plains. The drainage network is anchored by Medicine Cr and Deer Cr, which wind through the dissected uplands. This 2014 survey also shows the rural infrastructure of the period, from the primary corridor of Ne-18 to the local access provided by Lake Rd.
