Stumpy Point occupies a narrow strip of land along the western edge of the Pamlico Sound, defined by its intimate relationship with the water and the surrounding wetlands. This coastal village is anchored by the Shiloh Methodist Church Cem, a central landmark for local genealogy and community history. The geography of the shoreline is marked by numerous distinctive landforms, including Old Point and Drain Point near the main settlement, and further south, the remote reaches of Wild Boar Point and Sandy Point.
