Dinosaur National Monument encompasses much of this high-desert landscape on the border of Utah and Colorado. The terrain is defined by dramatic elevation changes, from the heights of the Blue Mountain Plateau and Ruple Ridge down through the Stuntz Draw. This 2011 survey records the continued presence of isolated structures tied to the area's ranching and homesteading history, such as the Douglas Chew Cabin, Snow Cabin, and the Chew Ranch. These features, along with the Wilkins Cabin and Harland Cabin, provide a record of human habitation in a region characterized by specialized water management features like Stuntz Reservoir and Dudley Pond. Navigational points such as the Island Park Overlook and Split Mountain Overlook emphasize the area's role as a protected wilderness managed via limited routes like Echa Park Rd.
