Byers Lake and the surrounding high ground of the Susitna Valley are defined here by significant relief and glacial drainage patterns. The Parks Highway serves as the primary transportation artery, running roughly parallel to the braided Chulitna River in the western portion of the quadrangle. Access to the water is concentrated at Byers Creek Landing and the recreational area of Sandy Beach, which sits on the northern shore of the lake.
