Talkeetna Mountains define the high-altitude topography of this Matanuska-Susitna interior, where glacial drainage patterns carve through a largely uninhabited landscape. This 2016 survey documents the complex watershed system of the Talkeetna River, which enters the northeastern margin of the quadrangle. High-elevation basins feed the Yellowjacket Cr as it flows southward through Township 26 North and into Township 25 North, while the E Fork Iron Cr drains the western slopes. The map reveals the stark isolation of this region within the Alaska-Matanuska-Susitna Borough, where the terrain is dominated by steep contour intervals and the natural course of alpine streams without the presence of named settlements or man-made roads.
