The terrain is a complex network of waterways including Anderson Gully, Cow Bayou, and the Bessie Heights Canal, which cuts through the wetlands toward Bessie Heights. Along the southern edge, the industrial footprint is marked by a large Oil Refinery at Smith Bluff, reflecting the region's mid-century petroleum boom.

For genealogists and local historians, several family burial grounds are preserved across the quadrangle, including Stephenson Cem and Adcock Cem near the oil fields, and Wallace Cem and Williams Cem further east near Oilla. The Southern Pacific railroad provides the primary east-west transport corridor, passing through the small settlements of Connell and Terry. The 1970 revisions, indicated in purple, show the continued urban and industrial footprints as they pushed into the surrounding coastal prairies.
