1962 Map of Toboso

USGS Topo · Published 1963

About this map

The Licking River carves a deep path through Muskingum County, creating the dramatic Black Hand Narrows and Licking Gorge west of Toboso. This early 1960s landscape is defined by the transformation of the river valley, most notably the expansion of the Dillon Reservoir which dominates the southeast corner. The transit corridors are tightly packed within the narrow valley, where the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad and an old railroad grade trace the water's edge.
