Red Rock Lakes National Wildlife Refuge dominates the northern reaches of this map, protecting the wetlands surrounding Upper Red Rock Lake. The landscape transition is dramatic, shifting from the flat aquatic environment of the Centennial Valley to the high elevations of the Centennial Mountains. Along this divide, the Montana-Idaho state line follows the crest, marked by peaks such as Sheep Mtn, Taylor Mtn, and Arrowhead Mtn. This high-altitude boundary separates the northern drainage of Red Rock Cr from the southern headwaters within the Targhee National Forest.
