Utica and Lewiston serve as the primary population centers on this landscape, connected by a network of rural routes and the modern Interstate corridor. The terrain is defined by the sharp transition from the rolling uplands of the north to the more complex drainages of the south, where Rush Cr and Hemingway Cr carve through the topography. In the southern portion of the quadrangle, the small settlement of Fremont sits near the head of Ferguson Valley, while Clyde occupies a position further west along the hillsides.
