Kasegaluk Lagoon dominates this Arctic landscape, separated from the Chukchi Sea by a thin, barrier-island shoreline. The survey, based on 1955 aerial photography, reveals a coastline defined by tidal passes and river mouths where the Ongorakvik River and Nokotleek River drain into the sheltered lagoon waters. This entire region is situated within Naval Petroleum Reserve No. 4, reflecting the strategic importance of the North Slope during the mid-twentieth century.
