Silver City stands on the southern shore of Lake Superior, serving as a coastal anchor for this Ontonagon County landscape near the western edge of Union Bay. The interior is defined by a dense network of watercourses flowing toward the lake, including the Mineral River and the Little Iron River. These waterways are punctuated by numerous dramatic drops such as Bonanza Falls, Pewabeck Falls, and the remote Nonesuch Falls.

Further south, the community of White Pine is organized around a residential grid including Hemlock St and Maple St, situated near the headwaters of the Big Iron River.
