About this map

The high plains of Lipscomb County are defined here by a network of drainage systems cutting through the Texas Panhandle landscape. Wolf Creek flows across the northern section, joined by tributaries including Cat Creek and Plum Creek, while Willow Creek and Cottonwood Creek carve paths further south. This 1970s survey illustrates an era of intensive energy extraction, dominated by an extensive Oil and Gas Field. The surface is marked by numerous Oil Wells, Gas Wells, and a prominent Pipeline that bisects the terrain. This industrial infrastructure is superimposed over the natural topography of a large Canyon and rolling breaks. Beyond energy, the map records small-scale surface mining with scattered Gravel Pits, while transportation is limited to rural routes like 213 and 1454 connecting this isolated production area to the wider region.
