Settled pockets like Wright and Gravelly Springs sit at the base of a heavily dissected upland characterized by a dense network of timbered hollows, many carrying family names such as Spain Hollow, Gooch Hollow, and Landrum Hollow. The topography rises sharply from the riverbanks, where the Reservation Boundary marks federally managed lands along the shoreline.

Inland, the 1970 photorevisions highlight the modernization of the local infrastructure, including a Microwave station and the developing route of the Natchez Trace Parkway cutting through the southeastern corner near Lewis Hollow. For the local historian, the map preserves the exact locations of rural congregations and burial grounds, such as Oak Grove Ch, Williams Chapel, and the Gravelly Springs Cem, which served these dispersed ridge-top and valley communities.
