USGS Topo · Published 2002

About this map

Anthony and Berino sit at the western edge of the high Chihuahuan Desert, where the settled valley meets the rising slopes of the Franklin Mountains. This survey documents a critical junction of infrastructure and wilderness, tracing the New Mexico-Texas state line as it bisects the community of Anthony. To the east, the landscape shifts abruptly from the valley floor to the rugged peaks of the Franklin Mountains State Park and the expansive Fort Bliss Military Reservation, which dominates the northern and eastern reaches of the quadrangle. Significant topographical landmarks like North Anthonys Nose and Webb Gap define the mountain crest, while the Old Railroad Grade provides a physical connection to the area's transport history. The map also records essential local landmarks, including a Cem, the Golf Course, and numerous livestock water sources such as Gabe Tank and Berina Tank.
