The eastern edge of Ardmore serves as a hub of activity on this survey, where the urban street grid gives way to the industrial and agricultural landscapes of southern Oklahoma. The transportation network is defined by the Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe and the St Louis-San Francisco railroads, which once supported the local economy. Just outside the city, the Downtown Ardmore Airport and the Sewage Disposal plant mark the transition into the township boundaries of Morgan and Wilson.

To the south, Lake Murray State Park anchors the landscape, surrounding the northern reaches of Lake Murray. Rural life is evidenced by a dense network of country landmarks, including Provence, numerous cemeteries such as Mt Zion Cem and Pruitt Cem, and local institutions like Niblack Chapel and the Springdale Sch. The terrain is drained by Caddo Creek and the Sand Branch, with Caldwell Hill providing a point of elevation above the many gravel pits that dot the area.
