Atwater occupies the southeastern corner of this central Minnesota landscape, situated just west of the Kandiyohi Co Meeker Co line. The area is defined by a dense concentration of glacial basins, ranging from the expansive Diamond Lake and Wheeler Lake to smaller bodies like Pay Lake and Sperry Lake. This topography shaped the local infrastructure, with roads like Sperry Lake Rd and Diamond Shore Rd winding around the shorelines.
