Badger Lake sits at the center of this high-plains landscape in Roosevelt County, an area defined by the vast grid of the Public Land Survey System and a network of rural routes. The small settlement of Kermit is located in the northwestern corner of the sheet, situated along the diagonal path of Highway 70. This 2017 survey illustrates the agricultural organization of the Llano Estacado, where the land is partitioned into townships such as t4s r32e and t5s r33e. The terrain is marked by gentle depressions and ephemeral water features, characteristic of the region's endorheic basins. Modern infrastructure is represented by a strict numbering system of local thoroughfares, including S Roosevelt Road AC and S Roosevelt Road AG, which provide access to remote ranching and farming sections in this corner of eastern New Mexico.
