The rolling plains of the Billings and Stark County line define this part of the North Dakota landscape in the early 1960s. Rural education is central to the area's geography, with the Belfield Sch No 1, Rocky Hill Sch, and Dorval Sch serving as local landmarks across the township. The natural drainage of the region is shaped by the Norwegian Creek and the winding South Branch Heart River, which snakes across the southern portion of the sheet near Rocky Hill.

Evidence of local resource extraction is visible through numerous Scoria Pits, a Sandpit, and other various Mines scattered throughout the quadrangle. These features, along with a network of unimproved roads and fine fence lines, illustrate the agrarian and industrial character of the territory during this period. The survey also identifies reliable water sources such as Black Spring and the small channel of Bull Cr at the southeastern edge.
