The Saint Elias Mountains define this high-altitude landscape in eastern Alaska, where the vast Wrangell-St Elias Wilderness preserves a primary section of the American interior. The terrain is characterized by heavy glaciation and steep relief, centered on the Granite Range that dominates the northwestern portion of the quadrangle. In the eastern reaches, the Logan Glacier flows through the mountain passes, illustrating the active glacial environment that continues to shape this region of the Copper River Census Area. This 2024 survey documents the contemporary extent of ice and topography in one of the most significant wilderness areas in the United States, providing a baseline for geographical study within the Public Land Survey System townships of t13s r22e and t13s r23e.
