Glacial ice dominates this high-altitude landscape within the protected boundaries of Wrangell-Saint Elias National Park and the Wrangell-St. Elias Wilderness. The terrain is characterized by the immense scale of the Bagley Ice Valley, which serves as a central corridor for the surrounding ice fields. To the north, Tana Glacier flows into the valley, while the massive Bering Glacier originates in the central portion of the sheet. Rising above these ice fields are the Saint Elias Mountains, with prominent landforms like Juniper Island emerging from the surrounding frozen expanse. Along the southern edge, Barkley Ridge provides a geological barrier, punctuated by a specific Natural Arch at high elevation. This map documents a dynamic glaciological environment at the junction of the Chugach and Yakutat regions.
