Wrangell-St. Elias Wilderness encompasses the entirety of this high-altitude landscape, where the massive peaks of the Saint Elias Mountains dominate the terrain. The topography here is defined by extreme elevation changes and drainage networks like Granite Creek and Twelvemile Creek, which carve through the southern portion of the sheet. The southern edge is anchored by the Granite Range, a distinct uplift within this protected wilderness area. This 2024 survey reflects a modern view of one of the most preserved and least developed regions in the Copper River Census Area, illustrating the complex glacial-carved landforms and permanent ice fields typical of this segment of the Alaskan interior. The map provides a precise record of these shifting hydrologic and geologic features within the federal wilderness boundary.
