South Fork Goodpaster River winds through this interior Alaskan wilderness, joined from the north by its primary tributary, the West Fork South Fork Goodpaster River. This area within the Southeast Fairbanks Census Area is characterized by high-elevation terrain and an intricate network of narrow creek valleys. The drainage system is further defined by Michigan Creek in the southeastern section and Big Swede Creek to the northwest. The absence of named roads or established settlements on the survey emphasizes the isolated nature of the landscape, where the topography is dominated by the steep ridges separating these vital waterways. The Bureau of Land Management township and range lines provide the only human-imposed structure across this largely undeveloped corridor of the Goodpaster river system.
