
Six Rivers National Forest and Trinity National Forest converge at this point in the Northern California highlands, where the boundary between Humboldt and Trinity counties is defined by the high crest of South Fork Mountain. The landscape is dominated by a complex network of steep ridges, including Pilot Ridge, Bailey Ridge, and Eightmile Ridge, which are traversed by numerous jeep and pack trails.
