The Desatoya Mountains dominate this high-desert landscape along the border of Churchill and Lander counties. The terrain is defined by a series of dramatic drainages, most notably the winding course of Buffalo Canyon and the smaller Skull Canyon and Road Canyon to the north. These canyons provide the primary topographical relief in an area characterized by significant elevations, culminating at Buffalo Summit and the nearby peak of Buffalo Mtn.
