Granite Mountain and the Eightmile Hills dominate the western half of this Iron County landscape, where the rugged topography met a mid-century mining economy. The survey documents several mineral interests including the West Pioche Mine, East Pioche Mine, and the Lindsay Hill Mine, alongside sites listed as inactive by 1949 such as the Great Western Mine and Armstrong Mine.

In the lower elevations of the Cedar Valley, the Union Pacific railroad cuts a straight path toward the settlement of Hamiltons Fort. Water resources like Quichapa Lake and the marshy area known as The Bottoms contrast with the higher, arid peaks of Swett Pk and Bauers Knoll. The presence of the KSUB Radio Towers and the small settlement of Halivah highlight the communication and transport infrastructure established before the late-1970s revisions were captured.
