About this map

The Yukon-Charley Rivers National Preserve encompasses much of this interior Alaskan landscape, where the Tatanduk River flows across the southern reaches near its confluence with Thicket Creek. The terrain is defined by significant elevation changes, marked by prominent features such as Nimrod Peak and the high elevations of Jejezhuh Tr'injaa Mtn in the east. Of particular interest to geologists and wilderness explorers is the presence of a Natural Bridge located north of Nimrod Peak. Drainage patterns are complex, with waters from Hard Luck Creek and Pleasant Creek cutting through the northern slopes of Jones Ridge. This map provides a look at the borderlands of the United States of America, where the wild character of the eastern Fairbanks region remains largely untouched by modern road infrastructure.
