About this map

White Mountains dominates the southern landscape of this interior Alaskan region, with high ridges and complex contouring captured through aerial photography in the early 1950s. The northern portion of the quadrangle is defined by the winding course of Beaver Creek, which meanders through a basin dotted with numerous small lakes and ponds. This transition from high alpine peaks to a watery lowland provides a clear look at the drainage patterns of the Yukon-Koyukuk area before later development. In the southeast, the headwaters of the North Fork Preacher Creek emerge from the steep slopes of the range, illustrating the remote hydrological network that characterizes this part of the Fourth Judicial Division.
