The United States Canada border forms the northern boundary of this high-elevation wilderness in Boundary County. Dominated by the Kaniksu National Forest, the landscape centers on the mass of Continental Mountain and its surrounding peaks like Snowy Top and Trapper Peak. The drainage patterns are defined by the Upper Priest River and its numerous tributaries, including Spread Creek and Hughes Fork.
