Desatoya Peak and the high summits of the Desatoya Mountains dominate this high-desert landscape along the border of Churchill and Lander counties. The settlement of Eastgate sits at the western edge of the quadrangle, serving as a focal point near the East Gate Range. The terrain is defined by steep canyons and drainage systems, including Rock Creek Canyon, Park Canyon, and Road Canyon, which carry seasonal water from the heights down toward the valley floors.
