The agricultural landscape of north-central Indiana is defined by a dense network of drainage canals and family-named landmarks at the border of Cass, Miami, and Howard Counties. Galveston serves as a central hub, where streets like W Jackson St and S Maple St meet the railway corridor. To the north, the small community of Lincoln and the private Rockey's Air Strip punctuate the grid of country roads.

Genealogical interest is high across this area, with numerous rural burial grounds preserved among the fields, including Patterson Cem, Sprinkle Cem, and Rush Cem. The hydrology is heavily modified for farming, evidenced by the many named waterways such as Henry Gilbert Ditch, Manson Kingery Ditch, and Harrison-Harlan Ditch. This 2016 survey also shows the northern expansion of Kokomo as it reaches toward the village of Cassville.
