The settlement of Hatch is situated on a relatively level bench above the river, supported by infrastructure like the nearby Landing Strips and a local Substation. To the north, the small community of Hillsdale sits along the riverbank, marking a pocket of development amidst a topography carved by Rock Canyon and Coal Pit Wash.

The southwestern portion of the survey transitions into the Dixie National Forest, where the terrain climbs toward Hatch Mountain. This area is characterized by complex drainages such as Limestone Creek and Limerock Canyon, as well as the junction where Mammoth Creek flows into the primary river valley. Numerous Borrow Pits scattered along the main roadway suggest the era's active infrastructure maintenance and transport development in this high-altitude corridor.
