About this map

Susitna River and its major tributaries dominate this high-altitude landscape within the Matanuska-Susitna Borough. The confluence of the East Fork Susitna River and the main stem occurs amidst a complex network of glacial braids and wetlands, illustrating the dynamic hydrology of the Alaskan interior. In the southeastern portion of the quadrangle, the terrain rises sharply into the Clearwater Mountains, where steep contour lines mark the transition from the broad river valley to alpine heights. The map also captures the West Fork Susitna River as it enters from the western edge. This area remains largely unsettled, with the primary organization of the land defined by the Public Land Survey System townships, such as t18s r2e and t19s r2e.
