
Arkansas River meanders through the heart of this mid-1960s landscape, marking the transition from the rolling plains of Kaw and Longwood into the western reaches of the Osage Indian Reservation. The original site of Kaw City is clearly detailed alongside its neighbor Washunga, showing the street grids and rail connections before the landscape was altered by the later creation of the Kaw Lake reservoir.
