2013 Map of Kingman

About this map

Kingman and its neighboring rural crossroads define this portion of western Indiana, where the landscape transitions from the agricultural plateaus to the carved drainages of the Wabash River. The map illustrates a network of historic river crossings, most notably the Marshall Covered Bridge over Rush Cr and several other structural landmarks including Bowsher Ford Bridge and Jackson Bridge. These points of transit were essential for connecting small settlements like Tangier, Sylvania, and Cates to the larger regional economy. To the south, Sugar Cr winds through distinctive terrain features such as Devils Den and Pot Rock Hollow near Rockport. In the north, the residential layout around Lake Holiday and the small grid of Harveysburg provide a contrast to the geometric section lines that organize the surrounding farmland.
