Sunset Peak and Mount Henry anchor this high-elevation landscape in Missoula County, where the drainages of the Swan River and the West Fork Clearwater River meet. The geography is defined by a dense network of mountain waters, including the large expanse of Lindbergh Lake in the northwest and Lake Marshall tucked into the southern ridges. A system of forest roads, such as Colt Lake Rd and the Colt-Beaver Cutoff, provides access to the smaller glacial basins of Colt Lake and Beaver Lake. The map illustrates the complex hydrography of the region, where numerous named tributaries like Uhler Creek and Beaver Creek carve through the terrain. This 2011 survey captures the area’s wilderness character and the vital watershed connections between its alpine lakes and major river systems.
