Raven Creek Hill rises as a prominent landmark in this interior Alaskan wilderness, surrounded by a complex system of drainage basins. The landscape is defined by the sharp relief of several watercourses, including Whymper Cr and Lynx Cr, which carve through the high elevations of the Yukon-Koyukuk Census Area. This 2017 survey reflects the remote character of the region, where township and range lines such as t8n r10w and t9n r10w organize the vast, uninhabited terrain. In the southeastern portion of the quadrangle, the headwaters of Troublesome Cr and Raven Cr converge, illustrating the rugged hydrologic patterns of the subarctic environment before these waters reach larger river systems.
