Bayou Cocodrie winds through a complex landscape of wetlands and managed waterways at the borders of Evangeline, Rapides, and Avoyelles Parishes. The region is defined by its transition from the low-lying cypress brakes like Robert Brake and Wilson Brake to the engineered drainage of the Bayou Boeuf-Cocodrie Diversion Channel. Small settlements and family-named landmarks are scattered across the flatlands, including the community of Lone Pine and the fringes of Bunkie and Haas to the east.
