Leader Creek and its many tributaries define this section of the Oklahoma landscape on the border of Pontotoc and Coal counties. The area is characterized by an extensive network of flood control reservoirs, most notably the numerous numbered basins of the Leader Middle Clear Boggy Creek project, such as Leader Middle Clear Boggy Cr 21 Reservoir and Leader Middle Clear Boggy Cr 14 Reservoir. These engineered water bodies are interspersed with natural drainages like Bois d'Arc Creek and Coon Creek.
