Glacial lakes and small farming communities define this mid-1950s landscape across the borderlands of Polk and Burnett Counties. The village of Milltown serves as a local hub, situated along the M St P & S Ste M railroad line that cuts through the southeastern corner. The area is exceptionally dense with water bodies and wetlands, ranging from the larger Trade Lake and Wood Lake to smaller named basins like Pickle Lake and Negro Nut Lake.
