The Noatak National Preserve encompasses the southern portion of this landscape, where the headwaters of several remote drainages converge in the Brooks Range. The Anisak River flows through the southeastern corner, while the Ignisirok Cr and Chertehip Cr carve through the high-elevation terrain to the north and west. This 2016 survey illustrates a completely undeveloped wilderness, defined by the drainage patterns of the Nuka River as it traverses the northern sections. The lack of human infrastructure, schools, or settlements underscores the protected and isolated nature of this Arctic environment, serving primarily as a record of natural hydrology and topography within the preserve boundaries.
