Seip Mound State Memorial stands as a prominent archaeological landmark in the Paint Valley at the northern edge of this Ross and Pike County region. The landscape is defined by the contrast between the broad floodplains of Paint Creek and the heavily dissected ridges of Pike State Forest, where numerous family-named hollows like Richardson Hollow and Tobacco Barn Hollow cut through the terrain. Small rural communities such as Spargursville, Nipgen, and Morgantown are linked by a network of winding roads, including the Detroit Toledo and Ironton Road.
