Mount Erie anchors the southwestern corner of this survey, situated just above the complex wetlands of the Little Wabash River valley. The landscape is defined by the winding course of the river and its many tributaries, including Moutray Slough and Old River Lake, which create a mosaic of marshland and drainage ditches across the central plains. Small rural clusters and family legacy sites are scattered throughout the agricultural grid, notably at Wynoose and Bennington. Numerous burial grounds such as Travers Cem, Gallagher Cem, and Moutray Cem provide significant points of interest for genealogical research. The map also highlights distinct geographic features along the river corridor, such as Totten Bend and Rutgers Bluff, where the terrain rises above the flood-prone bottomlands of the Fox River and Sugar Cr confluence.
